We move on from nostalgic visions of place making and embrace interstitial ‘spaces’with relish. The site is subject to invigorating impositions; welcome to ‘places of inclusion’. We accept extreme budget limitations and design propositions with bang for buck and conceptual cohesion.
This scheme reflects the core aims and philosophies of the park:
- The art comes first – it is the generator for all activity within GASP
- makes a statement – it is a contemporary art park that shifts perceptions
- accessible for all members of the community
- infrastructure is sustainable and low maintenance
- inspires environmental renewal and regeneration within the immediate area
- is a gateway to Hobart and Southern Tasmania
