Founded in Tasmania in 2002, Room 11 has a reputation for creating exemplary architecture in Australia. A sensitivity to, and preoccupation with landscape typifies Room 11’s architecture.
Room 11’s Director, Thomas Bailey is highly regarded amongst the Architectural profession for his finesse with construction detailing. His details are simple to execute and illustrate a deep knowledge and understanding of materiality and engender longevity to the materials of Room 11’s practice. This skill is illustrated in highly acclaimed works such as; D’Entrecasteaux House, Lighthouse, GASP!, Pine Flat Lodge, Lookout House, The Glass House, and Little Big House, to name a few of the practices well over 100 realised works.
The architecture of Room 11 has been widely published within Australia and around the world and can be found in Architectural Journals and books by respected publishers including Taschen, Gestalten and Thames & Hudson.
Among many state and national RAIA prizes and awards, Room 11 is also the only Australian Architectural practice to be invited as part of the International contingent for the La Biennale di Venezia in the Central Pavilion.
